What is M3U?

An M3U link is a single web address that points to a playlist file containing your channels. You paste the link into a player that supports playlists, and the app loads the channel list from that link.

M3U is a bit more basic. Depending on the app, you may need to add the TV guide (EPG) link separately, and on-demand content may be handled differently. It is still perfectly usable, but it has more moving parts.

There is a third format used by MAG boxes and a few other devices: a portal URL. You enter the portal address into the box’s Portal settings, and it loads a full-screen TV interface. This is essentially a different way of delivering the same content, and it is specific to MAG-style hardware.

1. Open IPTV Smarters and tap “Add New User” (or “Login with Xtream Codes API”).
2. For Xtream Codes: enter your server URL, username and password, then tap Add User.
3. For M3U: choose “Login with M3U URL”, paste the playlist link, and optionally add the EPG link.
4. Wait a few seconds while the app loads your channels.

The “Any Name” field at the top is just a label for your own reference. Name it “King IPTV” or anything you like. It does not affect the login.

Using M3U in VLC, step by step

VLC is the classic choice for M3U on a computer:

1. Open VLC.
